Mohamed Aden Ibrahim (Farkeeti), born in 1964 in Baidoa, Somalia,\u00a0 holds an MBA from Science Univerisity Malaysia (USM) and a Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) from the International Islamic University (Malaysia) UIM and Diploma from the National Institute of Statistics and Applied Economics in Mogadishu.<\/p>\n
He has extensive experience across both the private and public sectors. His career includes executive roles in Australia, where he managed a $750 million housing portfolio, as well as key positions in Somalia, such as with the Ministry of Jubba Valley in 1987 and the Somalia-Libya Agricultural Development Company (LIBSOMA) in 1986.<\/p>\n
Mr. Ibrahim has been active in Somali politics since 2002, participating in the Somali Reconciliation Conference in Kenya (2002-4) and serving as a vetting expert in 2012 for the Technical Selection Committee (TSC), which vetted delegates for the new Federal Constitution and the 9th Somali Federal Parliament.<\/p>\n
As Finance Minister of Somalia from February 2015 to March 2017, he introduced a web- based financial system (SFMIS) to enhance financial management, boost revenue collection, and modernize payment systems. He also played a key role in engaging with the IMF and passing crucial bills, including the Foreign Investment Law, Anti Money Laundering Act (AML\/CFT), Audit Bill, and Procurement Bill. He oversaw the establishment of the Financial Reporting Centre (FRC).<\/p>\n

Mr. Ibrahim is well-respected locally and nationally. He made significant contributions to the formation of the South-West State in 2013-14 and enjoys strong support from educated young people in the region. His philanthropic efforts, such as establishing a school in Baidoa and assisting poor families, further enhanced his reputation.<\/p>\n
With his extensive local and international network, Mr. Ibrahim is a candidate for the presidency of the South-West State.<\/p>\n
