The Democratic Party for Change (DPC) welcomes the joint statement issued by
international partners on April 7, 2025, regarding the proposed national dialogue
announced by His Excellency President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in his Eid-al-Fitr
address on March 29, 2025.
The Party recognizes the urgent need for an inclusive dialogue that brings together all
political and Somali community stakeholders to address key national priorities,
including the constitution, elections, and the fight against terrorist groups. This
proposed platform presents a critical opportunity for Somali political stakeholders and
civil society to unite their efforts and voices in tackling the nation’s most pressing
challenges, while advancing Somalia’s journey toward a democratic and federal
system of governance.
Our party emphasizes the vital importance of a unified and inclusive approach to
confronting the persistent threat of Al-Shabaab. The ongoing Al-Shabaab offensive
requires an immediate and coordinated national response. We honor the sacrifices
made by the Somali Security Forces, along with Macawisley and the African Union
Support and Stabilization Mission (AUSSOM), as they courageously combat Al-
Shabaab.
We express our heartfelt gratitude to our international partners for their unwavering
support and commitment to Somalia’s state-building, peace, and stability.
The Democratic Party for Change (DPC) reaffirms its commitment to the principles of
democracy, justice, and human rights. We reiterate our strong support for an inclusive
dialogue and stand ready to collaborate with all parties to ensure the realization of the
Somali people’s aspirations for peace, security, and prosperity.
